Smashed Your 2022 Goals? What Now?

We’re a few months into 2022 now, and it’s time to check in on your Own Your Goals journey. How is it going for you? We hope you’re enjoying all our fun workouts and challenges? (Keep your eyes peeled as we have plenty more in the pipeline as the year progresses!)

We always encourage our OYG Warriors to set goals, as this is the best way to measure and track your progress and stay motivated and on track. These goals can be to do with weight loss, muscle gain, dropping a dress size or losing inches from around your belly. 

But what if you’ve already reached the goals you set yourself for 2022? Aside from feeling amazing, you may be now wondering what to do next. So as ever, we’re here to help! What comes next for you will depend on whether or not you’ve reached your ultimate and final goal. 

If you still feel there’s more to do, we’ve got some motivational tips, and if you’re at your ideal place, then we can help you maintain where you are. 


Motivational tips for setting further goals

So, you’ve reached the goals you set at the beginning of the year – congratulations! Now is the time to tell yourself how awesome you are before the next stage of your journey. 

Setting goals that are realistic is essential, but now you could think about pushing yourself a little further. Use the confidence of reaching your last goal to push you forwards. You know what you can achieve, so this could mean losing an extra 2lbs than you thought you could, or lifting a slightly heavier weight. 

If you’ve completed your Beginner and/or Intermediate OYG plan, then the Advanced plan is waiting for you. Don’t forget to keep up with the protein rich meals to help fuel your extra workouts. 

Sometimes, the motivation we need becomes clouded by negative thoughts, so keep up with the affirmations and mantras that have been working for you, and keep reminding yourself how good it feels to reach a goal, and then move onto the next one.


Maintaining your goal weight

The most important thing to say here is, carry on what you’re doing and keep up the good work! It can be easy though, to take your eye off the ball, so it’s important to carry on setting goals, even if they’re to stay where you are, and to continue making healthy diet choices and exercising. 

The beauty of OYG is that you can do exactly that here. Set yourself targeted goals, for example to maintain your weight and to continue exercising as often as you have been, even through testing times. It’s almost the summer, with all its temptation of BBQs, cocktails and ice creams. So aim to make it through by making mindful choices and making the most of the lighter, longer days to fit in more exercise. 

Exercise-wise, could now be the time to take things up a notch? Maybe choose from one of our challenges and really push yourself. We highly recommend our Shape and Sculpt Challenge for building muscle, or try the Armageddon Challenge with Richard to help work on your flexibility.

Wherever you are in your fitness journey, never forget to take a moment to congratulate yourself. You’ve got this!
