6 Of Our Favourite Family Friendly Meals You Have To Try!

What’s your family go-to at meal times? Every family has one or two trusted favourite meals that they love, don’t they? Be it a traditional roast dinner, a spaghetti bolognaise or curry night, every household up and down the country has its old dinnertime faithfulness that makes it feel like, well, home.

But what if you’re looking to spice things up a bit? Or you’re on the hunt for new and exciting recipes that will tantalise all of your tastebuds, yet be super simple to make? We’re here to help.

Here’s our favourite family friendly recipes that you can try at home this dinnertime. There’s something for everyone – so pull on your apron and enjoy!

  1. If you love cauliflower cheese and you also love mac n’ cheese, then why force yourself to decide between the two, why not combine them? Our aptly named Cauliflower Mac n’ Cheese is perfect now that the chillier weather is setting in. It can be whipped up in half an hour and can be made vegan if you use almond milk and dairy free cheese and butter. With the added leeks and peas, it’s also great for getting more veggies into the kids.
  2. Talking of comfort food that’s still on the healthy side, this Mushroom, Leek and Walnut Crumble is a twist on a traditional pie and provides protein from the chopped walnuts. Get the kids involved with layering up this crumble and serve with a fresh salad or greens.
  3. On the days when nothing but a tasty, indulgent pie will do (because these days are the best days!) check out our Chicken and Mushroom Pie. Packed with flavour from the leeks and fennel seeds, you don’t even have to make your own pastry. Keep a ready rolled pack of puff pastry in the freezer for when the pie urge comes calling. Serve with vegetables and boiled potatoes – and lashings of gravy.
  4. Dishes that mean sharing bowls of freshly cooked food that need a little prep at the table add a bit of excitement to mealtimes and little (and big) ones will love making these Fajitas and Salsa. They can be made using chicken or tofu and this dish also introduces flavours that might be new, adding another level of culinary curiosity.
  5. If your family loves pasta, then try something a little different with this Mushroom Stroganoff. It contains nutritional yeast flakes which is a plant based ingredient that adds a cheesy taste and creamy texture. The tarragon adds a herby flavour whilst the paprika adds a smokiness – all the perfect accompaniment to the hero ingredient in this dish – mushrooms.
  6. For a super healthy and super quick dinner, our Roast Vegetable and Couscous Salad is ideal. Packed with veggies and flavour, it’s a delicious meal that can be enjoyed from a bowl, with a fork, on the sofa in front of a family movie – because not all mealtimes have to be enjoyed from the kitchen table. Follow it up with popcorn, obviously!
