Short For Time But Still Want to Work Out? We've Got You Covered!

Help! I don’t have enough time to exercise!

We hear your cries. Life is busy, with work and family commitments, school runs, running a house, having a cup filling social life and fitting in episodes of our favourite programmes during some well deserved down time all taking up our attention, exercise can be hard to factor into our busy schedules. Especially so, if we don’t enjoy exercising very much.

But as it happens, we have the perfect solution to finding time to exercise, and actually enjoying it! The answer is in short, sharp, intense bursts of exercise, that you can easily fit into your day.

Known as HIIT, or high intensity interval training, these specially designed workouts can be as beneficial as an hour in the gym doing less intense exercise. The idea is, that you work out to your absolute maximum ability, for short periods of time – often as little as ten minutes.

We have various high intensity, short workout sections here at Own Your Goals. Power Box & Tone is a series of fun, upbeat workouts that utilise boxing movements to build strength and tone.

Toned in 10 is another series of short but valuable workouts that help to improve tone, strength and muscle definition by helping you to work on your flexibility and endurance. You’ll be focusing on your core strength whilst burning calories and at ten minutes each, you’ll hardly notice the time go past!

We also have Fat Burn in 10, a really fun and popular series that makes the most of HIIT workouts for the upper and lower body, plus the core. These really make the most of their ten minute slots and although you’ll be panting at the end, you’ll really feel like you’ve had a workout, but in only ten minutes. You can also download the Fat Burn in 10 Challenge to really push yourself towards smashing your goals.

Finding time to exercise, even for just ten minutes, takes routine. The more you do it, the more likely you are to find your groove and exercise regularly, a few times a week. Some of us are better at finding the energy and time to exercise in the morning, whilst others are more receptive to the idea of exercising later in the day or in the evening.

Preparation is key too. This means making sure you have everything you need to hand, for when you need it. So this includes your workout kit, trainers, water bottle, mat and any equipment such as dumbbells (or food cans) ready to go. Spending 15 minutes finding all your gear defeats the point of quick, fuss free, non-time consuming exercise!

Whether you’re a morning lark or a night owl, work out time in your schedule for exercise. That might mean waking up earlier or sacrificing some down time in the evening. Exercise doesn’t just benefit our physical health, it helps us emotionally too, and promotes better sleep and a more positive can-do attitude. Start making it a priority and see how amazing you feel!
